What might be the effect of black tea on the skin?
You may know:the star of beauty teas, it’s matcha. Stronger in taste and more condensed in active ingredients than standard green tea, it is rich in antioxidants, known to regulate excess sebum and purify the epidermis. Although less concentrated, the black tea also contains antioxidants. These molecules are produced by the tea plant to defend itself against various attacks (fungi, insects, diseases, etc.). In humans, antioxidants act as a “shield” on several levels of the body. On the skin, they preserve youthfulness, fighting against skin sagging and the formation of wrinkles. These sought-after properties are activated when you drink hot or cold tea, but also when the tea leaves are directly applied to the skin or hair. Will this natural recipe have positive effects? We don't lose much by trying!
A black tea mask for the skin
If you're just starting out, the easiest way is to start with a super simple mask to make, which will wake up your skin. The base of the mask is brewed black tea, to which a thicker material will be added to facilitate application. It can be green clay (known for its purifying properties), organic Greek yogurt, crushed kiwi (rich in vitamin C), or thick honey, which will deeply nourish the skin. Once applied to the face, leave the mixture to act for 5 to 10 minutes, before rinsing. Those with more experience in natural cosmetics will be able to incorporate oils according to the specific needs of each skin: sweet almond to nourish it, rosehip oil for an anti-aging effect, jojoba oil to fight acne, etc.
Black tea patches to reduce swelling in the eyes
Another idea: keep your black tea bags and then use them as anti-dark circles and anti-puffiness patches. Cool them in the fridge, before applying them under your eyes for 15 minutes.
Black tea mask for hair
Black tea can be added to your hair masks already made or become the star ingredient of a homemade recipe. As it is a very liquid infusion, black tea will more resemble rinsing water. Steep a tea bag in a cup, then add apple cider vinegar (known for making hair shine), an organic egg or nourishing organic coconut oil. After shampooing, rinse your lengths with the homemade mixture. Leave on for 5 minutes, before rinsing with clean water. (If you opted for the egg wash, rinse with cold or lukewarm water to avoid cooking it!) Your hair will thank you!
Which black tea to choose for the skin?
Whether to drink it or to apply it to the body (skin or hair), we advise you to opt for for an organic black tea from organic farming. We thus avoid chemical residues and pesticides, still too present in industrial and intensive agriculture. At Kusmi Tea, all of our teas and herbal teas are organic, packaged in France and packaged in an eco-responsible way. What more could you ask for? Finally, choose organic black tea without spices to avoid any irritation. Our Tchaï of the Tiger with spices is much better in a latte than in a hair mask, take our word for it
