Thé au citron

In summary: Lemon tea combines catechins from tea (black or green) with vitamin C from lemon, strengthening immunity, stimulating digestion, detox, weight loss and providing energy and relaxation. To prepare it, infuse 1 tbsp. of tea 2-3 min, add the juice of a fresh lemon, lightly sweeten with honey or agave syrup, then enjoy hot or iced.

Where does lemon tea come from?

It's hard to know when these two first met! If the tea comes from Asia, lemon is characteristic of the Mediterranean basin. It is especially in the preparation of iced teas, that the lemon has made its appearance, in the same way as the mint or fruits, responsible for bringing even more flavors. But many tea lovers also like to slip a slice of lemon into their teapot or steaming cup of tea.

Is it a good idea to put lemon in your tea?

Yes, those who appreciate the tangy flavor of lemon. This can bring a little pep…. to a tea that lacks it. Conversely, for others, it is sacrilege to add lemon to tea, because it alters the subtle taste of the tea. green tea, from black tea or white tea. It’s up to everyone to try it out and form their own opinion!

What are the benefits of lemon tea?

Lemon is everything! Rich in vitamin C, it is renowned for its detoxifying properties: it helps with digestion and the elimination of toxins. Tea, he contains antioxidants (catechins) which would have beneficial effects to boost your immune system and protect the body from cellular aging and certain cardiovascular diseases. But the two elements combined, what does that give? Imagine that a study published in 2007* suggests that the addition of lemon juice (or lime juice) would preserve a large part of the antioxidants in tea... which would otherwise be destroyed. Indeed, usually, 80% of catechins are destroyed by the digestive system before being able to pass into the blood. However, during this study carried out in the laboratory, the addition of lemon juice would have made it possible to increase the number of antioxidant molecules in the blood.

Flavoring of Kusmi teas

At Kusmi, we have chosen to flavor our teas with essential oils, an odorous substance, recognized for its natural origin, produced by certain plants or fruits and which can be extracted in liquid form. It is this substance that flavors most of our lemon teas.

Committed to offering you the best possible ingredients, we have chosen Sicilian lemons to flavor our teas. In Italy, lemon is the institution, it enhances all dishes and even makes you salivate. At Kusmi, lemon is found in several mixtures:

- our iconic Detox where it is accompanied by organic lemongrass

- in some of our Earl Gray teas and in many other blends.

How to make your own lemon tea?

As delicious hot as iced, the lemon tea is consumed throughout the year. Depending on your tastes, whether you like it lighter or stronger, you can opt for a green tea with lemon or for a black tea with lemon. To make it, nothing could be simpler: you just need to prepare a plain tea, before adding a spoonful of lemon juice per cup. Fans of pretty presentations will not fail to slip in a washer of lemon, while those with a sweet tooth will add a spoonful of honey, to bring a little roundness, to compensate for the acidity or to relieve a sore throat.
