Tout savoir sur la Vitamine C

In summary: Vitamin C, an antioxidant, strengthens immunity, reduces fatigue, and supports the skin. ANSES recommends 110 mg/day. Key sources: acerola (30–40× that of an orange), guava, parsley (190 mg/100 g), and red pepper. Kusmi offers Sencha green tea + acerola “Rituel Défenses Immunitaires”, a 28-day programme to naturally cover your daily intake.

The role of vitamin C in the body

This may come as no surprise: vitamin C, like other vitamins, is an essential nutrient for our well-being and health. Why? How and where does it act in our bodies?

The antioxidant properties of vitamin C account for a large part of its biological effects. Indeed, vitamin C contributes to the proper functioning of the immune system. It stimulates lymphocytes and antibody production. It therefore acts on the body’s natural defences, which is why it is highly recommended in winter, as it helps fight certain illnesses such as the well-known winter cold.

Vitamin C notably helps protect cells against oxidative stress. Its action may be of interest in situations where the body needs it most, particularly during intense physical activity, pollution or sun exposure.

In general, vitamin C has multiple functions and benefits for our bodies:

  • Vitamin C brings a sense of well-being to our bodies.
  • It helps reduce fatigue and promotes energy and vitality. Insufficient vitamin C intake can lead to general exhaustion. This is why the French National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) recommends an intake of 110 mg of vitamin C per day for an adult.
  • It helps protect the body against oxidative stress
  • It delays skin ageing
  • It regulates stress and mood

In short, vitamin C is the foundation of our well-being and one of our best allies. It boosts our defences, preserves our vitality and stimulates antibody production: quite something! It therefore helps us stay healthy. But to make the most of it, we need to ensure our bodies receive a sufficient amount.

Because yes, although vitamin C is so important, it is not naturally synthesised by the body and must be supplied through food (fruit, vegetables...). Nature is not always well designed, is it? To benefit from the benefits of vitamin C it is therefore important to provide our bodies with a sufficient amount.

How? Through our diet (enough fruit and vegetables rich in beneficial nutrients and vitamins), but also through what we drink. What if a vitamin-enriched green tea could help you contribute to your daily vitamin C intake...

Which foods are rich in vitamin C?

When we think of vitamin C, we think of... oranges. But what if other foods, far richer in vitamin C and with discreet superpowers, were working in the shadows? Fortunately, Kusmi is here to give them the credit they deserve. Fruit or vegetables, here is the list.

  • Acerola, a superfruit with extraordinary powers

Acerola is a shrub native to the tropical regions of the Caribbean, whose small red berries have the delightful advantage of being both tangy and rich in vitamin C. In fact, extremely rich: nearly 30 to 40 times more than an orange. A resounding victory for acerola.

The Kusmi revolution: Rituel Défenses Immunitaires, a 28-day vitamin course.

You may not know this: acerola is very rare on food markets. What if we helped you enjoy an acerola course with ease? We have created for you a 100% vitamin-packed tea, naturally enriched with acerola and vitamin C. Called Rituel Défenses Immunitaires, our new product is a 28-day vitamin course. Thanks to this Rituel Défenses Immunitaires vitamin C course, you contribute to your vitamin C intake, without having to think about it, while combining benefits with pleasure.

Green tea with acerola berries can be a natural solution that contributes to the body’s normal functioning and helps boost our immune defences. Fancy a hassle-free vitamin C course? Then consider our organic green tea Rituel Défenses Immunitaires.

  • Guava, the exotic fruit that combines pleasure and vitamins

Guava, a tropical fruit native to Central America, is one of the fruits richest in vitamin C. In fact, it is the edible skin that is particularly rich: nearly five times more than an orange. Now you know what to say when people tease you for ordering guava juice as an aperitif. Not so superficial after all!

  • Parsley, the (super) vitamin-packed plant

Parsley divides opinion... almost as much as coriander. And yet, it will do you good and fit perfectly into all your dishes. With 190 mg of vitamin C per 100 g, parsley is a vitamin-packed herb that would be a shame to go without every day.

  • Red pepper, one of the best sources of vitamin C

Red pepper is a sweet pepper particularly appreciated in Mexican recipes. As well as being especially delicious, this fruit vegetable is rich in fibre and vitamins A and C, and is an important source of antioxidants.

Supplementing with vitamin C

Whether through food supplements or simply through diet, it is always good to pay attention to your daily intake of vitamin C: your well-being depends greatly on it.
