It is with the greatest care, the best raw materials and artisanal methods that Kusmi Tea creates your favorite teas. But do you know how our blends are made? Curtain up behind the scenes of our production workshops.
Teas, quality raw materials
Kusmi Tea chooses teas quality, in producing countries, imported in the form of whole leaves. These teas travel by boat, then arrive at Saint-Vigor d’Ymonville, very close to Le Havre in Normandy, where our manufacturing workshops are located. Upon arrival, our teams of specialists carry out rigorous checks and take samples to control their quality. A dedicated service takes these samples to its laboratory, where they are carefully tasted. It is only when the laboratory gives the green light that the tea can be stored! It is then methodically stored in our 6000 m² warehouse.
French workshops on a human scale
Our “Made In France” production workshops organize their work around a daily schedule. Every day, depending on what they plan to make, they order the components they need from the warehouse located less than 200 meters away to make their ancestral recipes.
Some days will instead be devoted to making loose tea, others to sachets… but the method remains the same: the ingredients are delivered and installed in the different workshop rooms. They are then weighed, then our experts follow the “recipe” which allows them to compose the mixtures and package them using sophisticated machines, even manually placing the sticker which will close the cellophane of a box and placing its lid on top.
Our workshops have seven rooms and each of them is specialized in the manufacture of particular products: mixtures in bulk, the bags, the boxes or even the boxes. They each bear the name of one of our teas !
From Normandy to the whole world
Our teas are then checked again and stored in our warehouse, which will be their departure point to their next destination. They will then come closer to your cup, by being sent to our 110 stores and to our partners. A large space is entirely devoted to internet orders: the selection of products is automated, but each package is made, checked and optimized by hand by our operators before leaving for the whole world and finding you in your sweet home.
