Matcha, from Japan to the rest of the world
Matcha, a fine powder of green tea leaves, is traditionally prepared and consumed during a tea ceremony, emblematic for the Japanese. But its use has become more widespread in many food sectors. In particular, there are a lot of matcha pastries from the most traditional to the most Western: mochis, doriyaki, madeleines, logs or even macaroons, the possibilities are endless.
Matcha is also very popular in drinks: dalgona matcha latte, chaï matcha latte, white chocolate matcha latte, bubble tea matcha green tea, matcha green juice… Today we are offering you a simple, effective, delicious and VEGAN recipe: an organic green tea matcha latte, with coconut milk.
Matcha mania
Through matcha mania, many variations of matcha drinks have been developed. In particular, we have offered you a recipe for dalgona matcha, inspired by the very popular South Korean whipped latte.
For latte lovers, but not only that, today we offer you a chai matcha latte recipe that will quickly make you forget your daily morning coffee. Skeptical? We'll prove it to you in less than 5 minutes!
Ingredients to make your chai matcha latte:
- 1 teaspoon of organic matcha green tea powder
- 1 bag of black Chai tea, we recommend our comforting Kashmir Tchaï
- ½ cup hot water
- ½ cup milk (we also have a vegan coconut milk matcha latte recipe right here)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla syrup
Start by steeping a bag of black chai tea in half a cup of hot water for 3 minutes. In a bowl, sift a teaspoon of organic matcha powder. This will allow you to avoid coming across very bitter lumps of matcha. Then pour in the hot black chai tea and mix with a whisk until you obtain a frothy dark green liquid.
It's up to you to decide now whether you prefer a comforting hot drink or an energizing cold drink.
For an iced chai matcha latte:
All you have to do is take the milk out of your fridge and pour 300 ml of it into a glass (with ice cubes if you wish). Then add the thaï-matcha mixture that you prepared previously, with 1 teaspoon of vanilla syrup. Mix it all together and you can enjoy a matcha latte that is as refreshing as it is nutritious!
For a hot matcha latte:
Heat the 300 ml of milk and pour them into a glass. Add the thaï-matcha tea mixture prepared in the previous step with 1 teaspoon of vanilla syrup. Mix everything together using a milk frother to enjoy the smoothest matcha latte you will ever taste!

Matcha latte with coconut milk, a vegan twist
Matcha is particularly associated with its health benefits due to its high antioxidant content, earning it the label “superfood.” Social networks have greatly contributed to spreading the message about its health benefits, by creating a micro-community of matcha lovers. Are you one of them?
Ingredients to make your vegan matcha latte recipe:
- 1 teaspoon of organic matcha green tea powder
- ½ cup hot water
- ½ cup coconut milk from a carton
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar
- 1 teaspoon of concentrated coconut milk
- coconut shavings (optional)

Start by sifting a teaspoon of organic matcha powder into a bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar then pour in ½ cup of hot water. Whisk in a W shape until the mixture becomes foamy.
In a glass, mix ½ cup of coconut milk with 1 teaspoon of concentrated coconut milk using a milk frother. Add a few ice cubes then pour in the matcha. Add some coconut shavings if you wish, and your vegan coconut milk matcha latte is ready to enjoy!
