Tea made using only the finest ingredients
Kusmi Tea imports whole, high-quality tea leaves from countries around the world. The tea is sent by ship to Saint-Vigor-d'Ymonville, near Le Havre in Normandy, where our production site is located. Upon arrival, our expert teams thoroughly inspect the tea, taking samples to check its quality. A dedicated team then carefully tastes the samples in our lab. It's only once the lab has given the tea the thumbs up that it can be used! It is then meticulously stored in our 6000 m² warehouse.
A small production site in France
Our production staff carefully plan each day ahead. Depending on which age-old blend they're going to be making, they request the different ingredients from the warehouse, which is just 200 m away.
Some days they make mostly loose tea, whilst others they produce teabags. However, the method is always the same and involves the ingredients being taken from the warehouse to the various rooms at the production site. They are then weighed before our experts follow one of the 'recipes' for our blends, and packed by state-of-the-art machines, with staff putting the finishing touches to the packaging by hand.
Our production site is made up of seven rooms, each set aside for making specific products, including loose blends, teabags, boxes and gift sets. Each room is named after one of our teas!
From Normandy to the world
Our teas are then put through another quality control process and stored at our warehouse, where they wait to continue their journey. Their final stop before reaching your teacup is one of our 110 stores or partner outlets. A large area of our facilities is set aside for online orders. Although robots are used to pick the products, each package is prepared, checked and completed to the highest of standards by a member of staff before being shipped to wherever you are in the world.
