How to prepare organic Matcha tea? Our Matcha tea recipe.

Organic Matcha green tea is made by grinding the leaves between two stones into a fine green powder. Although Matcha tea is part of an age-old tradition and used for traditional Japanese tea ceremonies, it is currently experiencing its hour of glory. In the form of Matcha latte, iced or Dalgona, Matcha is almost overshadowing latte coffees. Here at Kusmi, we're big on Matcha tea ourselves and you can find our organic Matcha tea as 30 g tins and 100 g refills.

To make organic Matcha tea, make sure you have everything you need.

Dalgona Matcha recipe

There are many Matcha powder recipes to choose from, but here at Kusmi we wanted to try out one of the most popular ones at the moment. Creamy, rich and slightly sweet, Dalgona is the TikTok drink that broke the internet in 2020. At Kusmi, we're particularly fond of the green edition of Dalgona, the one made with organic Matcha tea.

What is Dalgona?

Originally from South Korea, Dalgona is a frothy whipped coffee made by mixing coffee powder, water and sugar, all with milk. As it's easy to make, rich and – above all – Instagram worthy, Dalgona quickly became a sensation on the web. Naturally, we wanted to get involved and suggest our own version: a Dalgona Matcha tea.

Grab your whisks and we'll show you how to make the famous and mouth-watering Dalgona Matcha tea.

How to prepare a Dalgona Matcha latte?

To make a delicious Dalgona Matcha latte, you will need:

  • 2 egg whites. Unlike Dalgona coffee, the foam on a Dalgona Matcha tea is made with egg whites whisked until stiff peaks.
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 tbsp Kusmi Tea organic Matcha tea
  • 250 ml milk (or plant milk)
  • Ice cubes for an iced Dalgona Matcha

1. Whisk the egg whites in a bowl. Gradually add the sugar and whisk until you get a consistency resembling Chantilly cream.

2. Add the Matcha powder and whisk

3. In a cup with ice cubes, add the milk followed by the Matcha froth.

Serve immediately! Photograph, share and enjoy. Yes – a story is a must when you make a Dalgona Matcha tea.

Matcha latte recipe

Lastly, since the Dalgona Matcha recipe takes a little while to prepare (but not long at all, really) and some fervent whisking, you should know that Matcha can also be enjoyed as simply a latte version. The Matcha latte recipe is very simple. All you need to do is prepare the Matcha powder, then add milk and/or frothy milk to your mixture. Matcha goes well with all plant-based milk alternatives: chestnut, rice, soy... It's your call!
