What is an ORGANIC Kusmi blend?

At Kusmi Tea, an organic blend is made with plenty of love, as well as:

- Black tea, maté, rooibos, matcha, or hibiscus... all of them ORGANIC. Our base ingredients!

- Plants, herbs, fruits, and spices... all ORGANIC, we're telling you!

- NA-TU-RAL flavors and essential oils, because it's natural to enjoy what's truly good for us.

- Blue, white and red, because it's possible to have a name from far away and still be made in France!

Our black and herbal teas are going organic, which is only natural!

Today, nearly all the base ingredients for our black and herbal teas are organic and we want to be (even more) uncompromising. So we're putting in 200% extra effort to maintain the quality of our black and herbal teas, and doing so with the greatest possible respect for our environment.

In 2020, all our black and herbal teas will become as organic as they are delicious, with a fully certified product line for all to enjoy. Over 10 years' experience sourcing and producing our Lov Organic brand herbal tea blends has made the shift possible.

OUR MOVE TO ORGANIC

A committed partnership to protect our flora and fauna

It's impossible to talk about the origin of our teas without mentioning our partner, the WWF. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is helping us make our product line 100% organic and environmentally friendly. It's thanks to their support that, over the past two years, we have progressively and significantly increased the number of organic ingredients we purchase.

We're also proud to return the favor by supporting the WWF as sponsors for their major project, TX2. This conservation initiative aims to protect tigers, a species in danger of extinction and an iconic animal in tea-producing regions. In 2020, the partnership inspired our Tchaï of the Tiger, a high-quality, organic, spicy black tea with plastic-free packaging that's made in France, ethically produced, and comes from a 100% organic plantation in Southern India.

Supporting solidarity is our cup of tea

Our promise to nature is part of Kusmi's long-standing commitment, which we show every day in a variety of ways through the causes we care about most: · Freshwater is a resource that's both essential and fragile, and protecting its purity is paramount. Kusmi is partnering with the Fondation Eau, Neige & Glace to confront this major environmental challenge. The collected funds finance scientific, educational and cultural projects that seek to learn more about freshwater from the mountains and share that knowledge. · Kusmi also realizes the importance of respecting traditional expertise, preventing food waste, and advances in organic agriculture. We have chosen to support these vital aspects of eco-friendly, socially responsible food production via the Maud Fontenoy Foundation. The Foundation works with the French Ministry of National Education to design comprehensive educational programs that raise awareness and inform future generations about eco-friendly food production. · For the past several years, Kusmi has been reducing its plastic waste. In 2020, nothing could be more natural than our decision to support Plastic Odyssey, an expedition around the world to fight plastic pollution.

Quality + Creativity

Our Purchasing & Quality department takes action both upstream and downstream of the supply chain with a rigorous selection process for our raw materials and suppliers.

Our suppliers are experts in selecting the finest fruits, flowers and spices, which they then use to produce high quality essential oils and natural flavors. Our flavorists are constantly discovering new combinations, to create teas that are both delicious and surprising!

It's important to us to work with suppliers that follow our Quality Charter. The charter defines our specifications in terms of quality and food safety, and requires us to implement a very strict qualification process as well as regular evaluations and audits.

In order to guarantee consistent supply quality, every lot of raw materials must be validated by our quality department at the time of purchase, then inspected upon arrival at our production facilities in Le Havre via several types of tests (analytic, visual and taste) so that we can offer you the best organic black and herbal teas possible.

5 steps to black and herbal teas that are as organic as they are delicious.

Step 1

Sourcing

Because Kusmi Tea promises a unique taste experience, we will not compromise on the quality of our flavors and ingredients. That's why we purchase organic ingredients and natural flavors, certified according to the strict specifications established by the European Union.

Step 2

Analysis

Because it's always better to be cautious, we analyze our ingredients to verify their compliance with organic certification standards. We perform random checks of product batches to ensure that they meet all organic specifications.

Step 3

Creation

The magic happens in our workshops in Normandy, with individually selected ingredients. A classic flavor, or a new taste sensation? Whatever you're in the mood for!

Step 4

Certification

We're not really into labels, but our Ecocert certification is important to us. Ecocert is an independent certification organization. It verifies that all ingredients used in our products are in compliance with organic standards, and performs an annual audit of our production facilities, including our product packaging, to ensure that everything is fully organic.

Step 5

Logo

All of these steps allow us to place AB (for France) and Eurofeuille (for the European Union) logos on the packaging for our blends, along with the code of our certification organization. Those two tattoos make our tins even more attractive.
