What is acerola?
Acerola, also known as West Indian cherry, is a tropical fruit native to the Caribbean islands. It has been consumed for thousands of years by Amazonian Indians for its beneficial effects on the body. These small red berries are characterized by their tangy taste and are a natural source of vitamin C. Their vitamin C content can be 30 to 40 times higher than that of oranges!
What is vitamin C? What does it do?
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a nutrient essential to the proper functioning of the body. It has a protective role and multiple effects. It boosts our defenses, preserves our vitality, stimulates antibody production and has antioxidant properties. Unfortunately, our bodies cannot naturally synthesize this vitamin, so we need to provide it through a varied, balanced diet.
