Vanilla flavoured tea from South Africa
Also called “red tea” (translation from Afrikaans) because of the colour of its infusion, this plant belongs to the acacia family and has nothing in common with the traditional “Camelia Sinensis” tea except the way it is prepared and consumed.
This bush which exclusively grows in the high plateau of South-Africa is harvested during the summer and is, just like black tea, fermented – which gives this dark red colour – and then dried in the sun.
Naturally caffeine free, the popular use even gives it anti-spasmodic and relaxing properties.
The sweet and mellow vanilla flavour will please to children as well to adults.
Appearance : short thin twig
Colour : reddy brown with golden tips
Tasting advice : delicious plain or sweetened, hot or iced in summer, on its own of with a drop of milk.
